KOTUG assisted LNG Carrier MV Gemmata
Early Monday morning 2nd January 2012 the LNG carrier “MV Gemmata” (290 meters long x 46 meters wide and a draft of 10,9 meters) was guided by highly trained pilots and Tugs of KOTUG into the Port of Rotterdam.
The LNG carrier could deliver, with assistance of 4 Tugs safely its Liquefied Natural Gas to the GATE terminal in the Nijlhaven. The pipes that carry the LNG to the tanks are permanently cooled. Once the carrier is safely moored, communications will open between ship and shore. When the all-clear is given, the unloading arms will be connected.
After a few hours the equipment had been unloaded, once more 4 Tugs of KOTUG assisted MV Gemmata to the open sea. KOTUG obtained the job via agency GAC Rotterdam.
