KOTUG's RT Adriaan will be retrofitted with a hybrid propulsion system
From 14 November 2011 KOTUG’s RotorTug "RT Adriaan", since 2010 operating in the Port of Rotterdam, will be retrofitted with a XeroPoint Hybrid Propulsion System at Padmos Yard Stellendam. The conversion will be completed in January 2012 and the first ‘EKOTUG’ will then rejoin the KOTUG fleet.

KOTUG has formed a partnership with Canadian company Aspin, Kemp and Associates (AKA) to produce Europe’s first true ‘Hybrid’ tug and World's first Hybrid RotorTug, build under class-certification. KOTUG believes that introducing AKA’s hybrid technology into its fleet is the next step in demonstrating its ongoing commitment to the environment.”
