The port of Bremerhaven are amongst the most efficient in the world when it comes to handling container traffic, thanks to five kilometres of quays and 14 berths for large ocean-going vessels. Bremerhaven is also one of the major automobile hubs in Europe. Every year, millions of automobiles are imported and exported through the terminal, where the extensive operating area has parking space for 110,000 cars.
2011: Modernisation of Kaiserschleuße lock
Following the modernisation of Kaiserschleuse lock in 2011, the latest generation of carriers (Panamax) will have two access routes to the terminals.
KOTUG's excellent service in Bremerhaven port
Among KOTUG's clients in the port of Bremerhaven are the world's largest car carrier companies and container lines. With an impressive fleet of 8 tugs, mainly Rotortugs, KOTUG initiated competitive tugboat services in the North German port of Bremerhaven since 1 January 1999. Since then KOTUG succeeded to bring down the number of tugs needed to assist through narrow locks by its in house designed and developed revolutionary Rotortug. The office of Schleppreederei KOTUG GmbH is located at Schleußenstrasse 1 in Bremerhaven. From this location our tugs are operating and working at the River Weser, Nordenham, Blexen, Einswarden and inside the Bremerhaven locks.
